Let Us Unite and Act to End Violence Against Women and Girls

This was the rally chant in South Sudan where over 1,000 people gathered to participate in a march on December 9, 2022 to end gender-based violence (GBV). As part of a 16-day UN awareness campaign, three DMI-sponsored South Sudanese Women’s Federations organized the rally. After the march, women from the three federations shared their experiences, calling on local government officials to resolve gender-based violence issues. The Juba City Council members and Village Chiefs commended DMI for its initiative and encouraged women to continue to fight again GBV. In turn, the government confirmed its commitment to work with DMI and other partners by affirming that ending gender-based violence is fundamental to rebuilding South Sudan and creating a country where everyone – especially women and girls – can live safely and thrive.
