Our Mission in Italy

Overview

The Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) began their mission in Rome in 2011, responding to the growing flow of immigrants and refugees arriving from Africa, Asia, and conflict-affected regions of the Middle East. With the guidance and partnership of Caritas Italy, our sisters dedicated themselves to welcoming those who had fled war, poverty, and persecution. From the beginning, the focus was clear: to offer not only food and shelter but also dignity, compassion, and a sense of belonging to people starting life anew in a foreign land.

Service to Immigrants

Service to Immigrants

In 2011 @ times of displacement and hardship, whether caused by conflict, persecution, or extreme poverty, the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI) extend compassionate care to immigrants arriving in Rome from war-torn and poverty-stricken regions such as Eritrea, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Libya, Afghanistan, India, and even within Italy itself.

Guided by the belief that every person deserves dignity, belonging, and hope, DMI sisters - together with the support of Caritas Italy - respond swiftly to the urgent needs of those seeking refuge and a new beginning.
